Rexi Phillips

Rexi Phillips was born and raised in Edmond, Oklahoma. Both of her parents were long time teachers in the district sharing a combined 79 years of service when they retired in 2011. Phillips attended Will Rogers Elementary and Central Middle School, and then graduated from Edmond Memorial High School. She continued her education in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Social Studies Education, she worked for 5 years at KIPP Reach College Preparatory Middle School in Oklahoma City. During that time, she earned her Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University.
The 2012-2013 school year was Rexi’s first to teach in the Edmond Public School District. She is now in her fourth year of teaching at Boulevard Academy. In 2013, she was honored as Boulevard’s Teacher of the Year. She was also named as an Edmond Public School’s Teacher of the Year Finalist. Last spring, she submitted her application for National Board Certification. Notification of her certification will be announced in December of 2016.
What she loves most about teaching is the brimming potential and individuality of all of her students. She loves watching students take ownership of their learning and increasing their ability to take risks to further their growth and development as learners and community members. She loves motivating students to challenge adversity and to achieve greatness through hard work and kindness.
While not at school, Rexi is involved in several organizations. She is the secretary of the Oklahoma City Metro Area Kappa Delta Alumni Chapter. She volunteers at Pet Food Pantry delivering pet food to Oklahoma’s City’s less fortunate, elderly pet owners. She is also the Education director for the Central Oklahoma Humane Society’s P.A.W. Pack Young Professionals Board. Rexi loves to read, and she is a member of a book club that meets monthly.
In her free time, Rexi enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark Phillips, a Curriculum Coach at Central Middle School, her family, and friends. She loves taking her two dogs, Espn Leon and Hayden Diane, to the dog park as well. She also loves running and frequently competes in various charity races across the state. She completed the 2015 Memorial Marathon in Oklahoma City and plans to run the marathon again in 2016. She is currently working towards becoming a half fanatic. To qualify, she will run four half marathons in four states in under two months.
