I’m Cat Anderson, and I teach English and electives at Boulevard Academy. I have a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from North Western Oklahoma State University. I began teaching in 2016 as a reading specialist working with students learning English as a second language. I adore working with students as a coach and a mentor to explore their interests, discover new experiences, and build important life skills that will be useful far beyond the walls of my classroom.

I am a plant mom, fish enthusiast, and crazy cat lady who writes and edits fiction in my spare time. My family and I also love to travel, go to concerts and ren faires, and seek out new delicious food spots both in and out of town. I always say, “my life is not simple or easy, but that’s never the life I’ve wanted. My life is full and vibrant–sometimes overwhelmingly so. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

My classroom is my home away from home, and in sharing with my students, I want them to know that no matter their past or present, my classroom is a space where they will be safe, supported, and valued. That is the foundation of my teaching style each and every day. I strive to achieve balance within my curriculum that prioritizes both content and standards, as well as making time for important social and emotional skills that can be learned along the way. I’m thrilled to consider myself a life-long learner and find joy in any opportunity to build new connections with students and their families. Thanks for stopping by, and we can’t wait to welcome you to the ‘Vard!
